Finding The Right Programs To Promote For Your Affiliate Marketing Business
If you want to build a profitable affiliate marketing business then choosing the right merchants will be vital to your success. You could literally do everything else right and still not be profitable if you do not send your traffic to the right merchant.
The first thing you should look for in a merchant is the amount of commission that is offered per sale. While there are also other considerations both the commission amount and percentage should be generous enough to make it worth your investment in time and money. A good affiliate program should pay at least 50% commission for each sale and be 25 dollars. There are exceptions to this. Merchants that have very high conversions for instance would often be worth promoting even if they pay less of a commission. Popular well known products will usually have lower commission payouts but will generally convert very well and should be considered for promotion.
Another factor to consider is how many other affiliates are promoting a merchant. If there is a large number of affiliates promoting a merchant there are two potential problems. First of all you will have a lot of competition. It is difficult to make money if you have a lot of competitors especially if you use PPC search engine marketing campaigns. Secondly if a product is promoted all over the internet there is a possibility although not in every case that the market could be saturated. Anyone promoting in a saturated market will have a hard time making money because due to lack of buyers who don’t already have the product.
It can sometimes be complicated finding the right affiliate program to promote. The good news is that with my general guidelines along with some of your own research you should be able to find a good merchant that will convert well. In researching affiliate programs there are two good resources. First of all asking questions in forums is an excellent way to get advice on what the best programs are. Many have learned by trial and error and will give you their honest opinion. Secondly there are actually sites that review various affiliate programs.
While doing all that research finding a good program might be time consuming it will be well worth the trouble when you find a good merchant and the right one will make it much more easier for you to make money in your online business.
