One of the benefits of most auto responders (I use aweber) is the ability to track unique traffic sources. By creating separate web opt in forms and web pages for each unique traffic source you will be able to track initial traffic from your various sources, conversion to subs, total subscribers directly.
Likewise follow-up emails open rate will help you tweak your subject lines, and the follow-up CTR will help you determine if your emails are effective in getting your subs to look at your offer links or pages by tracking click thru rates.
When you create messages in aweber, you choose the “Enable tracking of clicks on links in your message” option on the message creation page and it creates those links. The reason you do it is that it allows aweber to track your click through conversion rate. This allows you to gather data about which emails work and which do not, and you make your adjustments from there.
Finally by learning to use your auto responder to link all visitors to your sales pages you can then use the page visits and # of sales you have to instantly calculate your sales conversion rate.
By knowing each and every conversion rate, you can then test and make changes to improve each step and increase sales simply by getting more visitors through the sales pipeline to get a chance to buy your offer.
