Nokia N95 8GB ? A Comprehensive List of Features
Although many cell phone makers will content themselves with
releasing a new model of phone that essentially only features cosmetic
improvements, the Nokia N95 8GB is a powerhouse Smart Phone that represents a
true leap forward from the previous Nokia N95.
We’ll try to pack as many of the features here as we can, in the space
allowed by a single article, to give you a true comprehensive look at what this
phone can do.
For starters the camera phone alone can stand proud even
amidst most stand-alone digital cameras.
The phone will shoot as high as five mega pixels in resolution (2592 x
1944 pixels) and features Carl Zeiss optics, one of the oldest and most
respected optics manufacturers in the world.
The lens used is the Tessar lens, one of the more famous lenses
manufactured by Zeiss. The camera is a
front facing camera and includes integrated flash and a digital stereo
microphone for video recording. The camera is of course integrated for video
calling as well as for video sharing.
Nokia has even included some fairly robust image and video editing
software with the phone, as well as some built in options when shooting. For example, you can shoot in normal mode,
black and white, sepia, negative and vivid.
You can even shoot your still photos in EXIF for the maximum amount of
tag information and raw image data.
One of the most obvious improvements in the N95 8GB by Nokia
is the expanded display screen, making the camera and multi-media players
easier and more enjoyable to use. The
6.6cm screen displays in 16 million colours. There’s a
built-in ambient light detector that automatically adjusts the display even
under changing conditions.
The video capture supports the VGA format of 640 x 480
pixels and up to thirty frames per second (fps) with a 4x digital zoom. Other video capture formats, however, will
support the 10x digital zoom that the phone is capable of.
The text messaging functions support multimedia making
easier than ever to get the maximum usage from this multi-use mobile
phone. You can combine text, audio,
video and image in your messages.
Battery life has been improved and the N95 can last up to
280 hours on standby, the five hours of talk time should be plenty except for
the most extensive users.
The digital music player supports a wide variety of formats
and can even pick up FM radio. There’s
a built in equalizer for adjusting the sound that even the most avid audiophile
will find usable.
There’s also built in navigation with A-GPS support, which
will be a big relief for users of the original N95. A-GPS offers a big improvement over the previous GPS fix time ,
although anything more than the most basic map functions is available in most
areas only through subscription.
